Soul Train - Iconic Movements

The video of the day is one that will surely get you to feeling good and get your feet to tapping. Growing up in a house where music was always a focal point, it was always a joy to turn on the television and see some good ole Soul Train. I actually have a cousin who won a contest to dance on the show and she still talks of it to this day.

During the heyday of Soul Train in the 1970s and 1980s, the program was widely influential among younger African Americans. When that train got to grooving down the track, you knew you were in for a good time and a groovy one at that. The fashion was on point, the dancers were in sweet harmony with the music and the scramble board was always completed.

On any given episode you could catch the likes of: Jody Watley, Rosie Perez, Jermaine Stewart, Fred "Rerun" Berry and NFL legend Walter Payton getting their start on the dance floor.
