LIR Book Selection- Divided Soul Is It

Being a Legend, Icon or Role Model, we can do it all from driving the best cars to cooking the best meals. We must however get in a little reading every now and then and stretch our mindsets with more than reality television and talk shows. There is nothing more amazing than sitting down with your friends and telling them of the latest book that you have read.

I myself have just finished a great book in the form of "Divided Soul The Life of Marvin Gaye" and it is a book for the Legend in all of us. From his humble beginnings,his dysfunctional family and all the way to his tragic death, this book is one that will keep you glued to the pages with suspense.

Referred by Bevy Smith, I am pleasantly surprised at how the author brings you into the story as well as allows Marvin's words to penetrate the each passage. Marvin was a young man who yearned for the love of his father but yet kept coming up short. He was a gifted and sensitive person with a connection to all things pure and genuine. He would have great accomplishments but yet could not allow himself to be loved by those around him.

His successes were all connected to his approval from his father who eerily had similar traits and habits. Even though the reader knows what the outcome will be, you find yourself yearning and praying for Marvin to bounce back. As you turn each page, you find that he was a tortured person who possessed a divided soul.
