LIRM Lifestyle Spot ~ Falling In Love with Ms. Smith's Pool House

It was the summer of 1984 and my grandmother had a friend whose home we would often go and visit. I can clearly remember the morning air being rather crisp with opportunity and our house being filled with laughter. My grandmother was one who could always bring a smile you way with her witty attitude and outlook on life.

More life's lessons after the jump

As we headed from the outskirts of Houston thru the inner city and beyond, my smile was wide as I sat in the backseat of our classic Thunderbird. I can still hear my grandparents discussing things that ran the gamut of children, bills and optimism regarding the future but I myself was fixated on our destination.

Mrs. Smith was a judge and a Houston socialite who my grandmother had the privilege of befriending and her home was immaculate. She was often seen in the local newspaper publications around the city and state and was regarded as a classy lady.

Some of her homes outstanding showcases would have had to have been her decorative talents. Many of her friends were in love with her style and poise but I myself was in love with her home and all it consisted of. I can still remember her massive staircase that led you to level after level of faboulousness. Each room had its own theme and you could eat off her floor, but that is for another blog post.

Her pool house was the most amazing thing you could imagine it to be. This young tyke from the outskirts of the city coming in and seeing a personal area for guest to sit back and have a good time was something to call home about. Just imagine sitting by the pool and enjoying a freshly squeezed glass of Lemonade while your guest test out the water with their toes.

The memories go on and one in my mind but one thing that stood out to me was how immaculate her pool house was. There was not a thing out of place and we were invited with at least 80 more guest and not one thing was broken nor stolen.

As we prepared to head back home, I took a look at the pool house and said to myself, "I can have one of these if I work hard enough." I must say as I have grown older and began to dream bigger things to accomplish, that pool house is at the top of my list.

Check out a few examples of haute pool houses and see if you get the same inspiration.
