Dame Jonelle Allen ~ Artistic Spotlight - Amazing Actress

When one thinks about what it takes to be a accomplished actor, many things come to mind such as stage presence, intensity and pure bold talent. Veteran actress Jonelle Allen surely embodies all the above mention traits and much more. She blazed across our screens in 1970 in the cult film Cotton Comes to Harlem and simply owned the scene like no other.

Ms. Allen has quite an impressive body of work that runs the gamut of stage productions such as HAIR, George M and the amazing Tony Award winning Gentlemen of Verona. She would go on to guest star in iconic television masterpieces like Trapper John M.N., Cagney & Lacey, ER. and Hillstreet Blues just to name a few.

This blogger can remember my viewing experience with Ms. Allen in the nighttime drama Berrengers and on down the road in the groundbreaking daytime soap Generations. Her portrayal of over the top yet multifaceted Doreen Jackson was what really set the soap on its ear. After the soap ended, Ms. Allen would go on to create another iconic character, Grace on the critically acclaimed Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman staring Jane Seymour.

These days she is not only continuing to act but is also teaching the art to her students at the Conservatory of the Arts in San Juan. Check out some amazing footage as well as a sit down interview that Ms. Allen did a while back and see why she is the epitome of an amazing actress.
