LIRM Lifestyle Post ~ "Just Give Me My Bed and I'm Good"
More better days testifying after the break
It had to be the early nineties and all was right with the world. I had a cushy job, a busy social calendar and my threads were loaded within my closet. Day by day I woke up feeling as if I could conquer the world and all the challenges that came with it.
I could often be seen hitting the local interstate jolting down I 20 and heading to my second home of Houston, Texas to see my hero's, my grandparents. The oil was changed, tires rotated, my old school jams in place and money to boot.
One thing that I often missed while visiting was simply my bed and not for nothing I know it missed me back. Now please don't judge me for having a love affair with my super comfortable bed but I always embraced a nice bed selection.
I can still remember my great aunt Mary and her high bed which was loaded with pillows on top of pillows. Her bed was always a sight to view but a challenge to get into and now as I look back, I think she planned it that way.
Once on my own, I found myself moving into my modest apartment with simply the clothes in my suitcase, a skillet handed down via my mother and later on a simple sofa and love seat. The thing that I struggled with was sleeping on a couch that was not suffice for a 6' 4' man of my statue and I knew I had to do something about it and fast.
Before long I was at my favorite furniture spot picking out a modern bed complete with a boss headboard. I never really cared much for a dresser simply because I felt as if it took away from the space of the room but that is another post for later. I venture to believe that our clothes are made for the closet and not to be packed down in a cramped quarter of a dresser.
As I approached hard times and my bills began to supersede my paycheck, I found myself somewhat stressed out and thinking of giving it all up. I search for a better job and wouldn't you know it, I found it and knocked the interview out of the ballpark.
This job was a stressful complete with deadlines, budgets and baptisms but the thing that always gave me inspiration to finish the day was knowing that my bed was waiting on me. There were times where I simply washed the sheets, regularly of course, and being a bachelor, I threw them on the bed without any need to make it up to perfection.
Enough about my housekeeping practices, check out some of these amazing modern bed selections and see if you don't find inspiration to search for a new bed before the month is out.
