LIRM Style Spotlight ~ The Timeless Style of Sir Steve McQueen

Being a self professed "Positive Blogger" I recently had a quick case of Blogger's Block when it came to the Style Spot and whom to showcase. We are living in a time where one can simply wear the latest and the greatest designer threads and is instantly declared a fashion icon.

More iconic opinion after the jump

Growing up, my Aunt Zola who was a seamstress would give us tykes the run down of what is considered fashion and what is simply clothes worn nice. After being her star pupil, I remember watching one movie that caught my mental eye.

The lead actor and actress had amazing chemistry that resonated completely thru out each scene. Not only was the acting rather organic but the clothing selection had me hooked from beginning to end. The movie "The Thomas Crown Affair" starring Faye Dunaway and Steve McQueen, gave this bright eyed viewer everything including the love of a great suit and love story.

I can still remember asking my grandmother where could I possibly get a suit like the one's Mr. McQueen was wearing.  Steve McQueen was notorious for his take no prisoners attitude when it came to living his life on his own terms.

I personally didn't find out about the other stuff until I became older and even then my mind was so cluttered with his fashion selections that I couldn't judge anyway. Mr. McQueen could give you rugged, mix it up with a little playboy and finish it all off with the showcasing of a nice and precise suit with great punctuation.

Even to this day when I am shopping for the latest turtleneck or a boss pair of loafers, I can faintly remember how Mr. McQueen would sport a turtleneck and make the ladies swoon including my grandmother. Even today there are various actors such as: Brad Pitt, Stuart Townsend as well as myself who have a little McQueen inspired looks in the walk in closet.

Check out some of his sharp selections and you will see that even though he is no longer with us in the flesh, his style is relevant to this day.
