BET Network Options New Edition Biopic + Misty Copeland Covers September 2015 Issue of Essence Magazine

The fancy footwork, countless awards, rumors of infighting as well as reunions are just a few things that will be addressed in the upcoming BET biopic based on the famed group New Edition. The news hit earlier today that BET has optioned for an insightful look inside one of the most prolific boy bands in the world.

Executive produced by Jesse Collins of The Real Husbands of Hollywood, New Edition members Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Ronnie DeVoe, Johnny Gill and Ralph Tresvant have all signed on as co-producers for the film that is being developed into a three-night miniseries premiering on BET in 2016.

The film will be executive produced by Real Husbands of Hollywood Jesse Collins and longtime manager Brooke Payne will also serve as a co-producer. The untitled film is slated to begin shooting in early 2016. A director has not yet been selected. This will be the first scripted music-focused television movie to air on BET.
