The pit would be smoking with the greatest smell on earth and the family would be enjoying one another. Just imagine the scent from the pit along with a simple yet moderately cool south wind and combined with that scent, you hear a certain song.
The voice is sweet yet strong, the range is amazing and the harmonies are thru the roof. The women would began to sway their hips and beck for the men to come over and dance with them. Before it is all over, the entire family is up grooving to the sounds of a young lady describing her first time in intimacy. That voice was and still is Betty Wright.
Betty Wright has single handedly influenced a generation of female singer-songwriters and influenced the world of hip hop as well. Some of her early hits include, Clean Up Woman, She's Got Papers and the famous "Tonight's the Night".
She would also come thru the 80's and rule with a tight fist with two of her biggest hits in years, “No Pain No Gain” and the “After The Pain.” You could even catch Betty teaching the young inexperienced singers of Danity Kayne the art of vocals on a season of Diddy's "Making the Band."
