Somebody is Telling a FIB - HTGAWM Recap
This show is full of twists, turns, left hooks and scandalous sex and that is just in the first 4 episode of the series. You have Annalise Keating, brilliantly played to perfection by Viola Davis, saving the day in every episode as well as snatching edges and causing her students to either go home crying or suck it up and win by any means necessary.
This episode focused on the "Bomb Mom" and let me just tell you - mom was a trip. She was so perfectly put together, like we are talking serial mom status here. But just like serial mom, played by the EPIC Kathleen Turner in the movie of the same name, bomb mom was one cold broad.
She has Annalise stressed out with her lies and jokes that only she found funny. The bomb mom had a sad put upon husband who just loved his wife for who he thought she was - that is it!! Eventually the bomb mom would run off with the man who taught her many bad things as well as everything she knew as far as covering her tracks after killing someone with a bomb she planted and she did it with not one blink of a perfectly done surburban eyelash.
As this ratchet case was being played out we were privy to countless flashbacks that actually had some viewers turned off. The secret to the the clues and answers to burning questions are found in alot of the flashbacks. I mean, you have Annalise's husband Sam, who we believe is harboring more secrets that any of us know, flirting albeit low key and faint with her assistant Bonnie as well as somewhat mourning his dead student Lila.
Lest we forgot the trophy, which is used to kill Sam and has each student vying for it and doing whatever it takes to win it - sex, lies, deception, phone calls, greed, that is a KEY clue!! Now one would deduce that Annalise may be playing these poor students to see who is the best OR using them to get away with the murder of her husband or is she?
Can we talk about Bonnie? The name alone is one of deception- Listen, Bonnie Winterbottom *Insert Snicker* is no victim and we just might find out that Bonnie is running things more that any of the other players know. Bonnie has a weird connection to Sam and just might have used him for sex and she low key resents Annalise in our opinion.
Another issue? Wes and Rebecca are one weird couple- or judging from the flashbacks - eventual couple. Rebecca has been arrested for the murder of the dead student Lila who may or may not have been shabonking Sam Keating. According to Rebecca Lila was getting it in with the weird boyfriend/jock who we believe is simply a red herring - Nothing more! Nothing Less!
KEEP UP!!! KEEP UP PEOPLE!!
So anyway, Wes whom we believe is posing as a student and is actually an impostor who just might be infiltrating the program to exact revenge on Annalise for something else, created a fake ID card *CLUE* and snuck into the jail to represent Rebecca but eventually was busted by Rebecca who disses him every chance she gets. Why won't he just give it a rest already!!!?
Wes also receives a call from Lila's phone - Yes!! The dead girl and even though he seems shocked that he got a call? He ain't fooling!!! Wes is no angel people!
Let's not forgot Annalise's boy toy Nate who is out investigating if Sam could be the person who knocked off Lila. He meets with a few people and deduces that Sam wasn't missing during the time of the murder BUT Nate is telling fibs - Just to keep Annalise's nerves settled or is he?
Here comes Michaela who we see sexing up her future hubby in one scene and finding out that he slept with her classmate the slutty yet witty Connor in the next. Even Annalise warns her to pick the right husband because she will have to live with the consequences. Take this advice Ms. Michaela for Annalise knows what she speaks of. Listen, Connor has NO CHILL and he gets around and we are talking nearly every episode but Connor is gonna keep it 100 or so it seems.
Connor taunts Michaela with the knowledge of how he slept with her man, makes her play around at the bond fire, that by the way is "suppose" to act as a alibi for each of them, tells her she needs to go along with the plan and lets just say, she was not happy people. Judging from Michaela's face she is a fragile chick who just might be capable of getting away with murder.
Courtesy of flashbacks we find Michaela in the corner of the room like a person who just saw a dead body who actually is a dead body. Anyhoo! We also find her freaking out times 600 when they are out in the woods disposing of Sam's body and she loses the engagement ring.
This girl is on the edge and let us not forget her face or every body's face when Wes gets the trophy for winning as well as how Annalise handles her with serious critiques. Michaela never seems to win and we believe the chick is a ticking time bomb. Just like the bomb mom!
Don't forget the four rules:
1. Discredit the Witness
2. Introduce a new Suspect
3. Bury the Evidence
4. Leave the Jury with Doubts
There is one person that people need to NOT forget about and that would be Asher. Sure he is goofy, has horrible one liners that rub people the wrong way BUT Asher is is not to be ignored. Something tells us he has secrets of his own that he doesn't want to come up and he covers by cracking jokes etc.
Frank and Laurel are either playing a good game of flirty law pupils/students/instructors or they have knocked the boots back in the day. Frank finds her at the bar and boy he spots her getting into a good convo with a guy who is totally into her and Frank bolts - he is pissed!!!
The episode ends with Annalise taking on Rebecca's case and can we just say - Nobody can stare with disgust like Viola Davis.
Until Next Week!!!
