Marcy Walker Smith is Missed

Sitting in my office thinking of how my grandmother loved her soaps and the actors who brought them to life. My grand mom had loads of publications geared around her love of soap operas and she actually made this blogger sit and read them as well as watch them with her.

One of her favorite actresses was that of the amazingly talented Marcy Walker Smith. This Emmy Award winning actress kept us glued to our television screens throughout the eighties, nineties and beyond with her multifaceted portrayals of strong women in the form of All My Children's Liza Colby Chandler, Guiding Light's Tangie and the her most popular role, Eden Capwell Castillo on the now defunct Santa Barbara.

Marcy has the abilitity to travel to depths and heights that not many actors will even be able to do with her portrayal of a character that was often faced with extremely hard challenges. Some of her most intense scenes were that of Eden dealing with the aftermath of a brutal rape and her descent into madness as her character developed various personalities.

One minute she was the long suffering heroine who wanted a life filled with joy and the next her alters Lisa, Suzanne and more would emerge and Marcy was so good that this blogger almost forgot she was an actor. After more than fifteen years as an actress, Marcy decided to retire and go into full time ministry with her husband and has been flourishing in a major way.

Check out some amazing scenes of this great actress and see why though she has retired from acting, her presence is still missed on the screen to this day.
