Netflix Snags Streaming Rights for OWN Greenleaf + Season 2 Premiere Date Is Official
PEEP THE DEETS:
Set for premiere Wednesday, March 15, 2017, the Greenleaf family tree will split at the root as Jacob (Lamman Rucker) ventures off to begin his new career with long-time rival church Triumph Ministries, breaking faith with his father, Bishop James Greenleaf (Keith David) while his mother, Lady Mae Greenleaf (Lynn Whitfield), struggles with Jacob's decision to abandon the family.
Meanwhile, after exposing her Uncle Mac's (GregAlan Williams,) crimes, but failing to bring him to justice, Grace Greenleaf (Merle Dandridge) finds herself intrigued with someone new, Darius Nash (Rick Fox), a local journalist who's been closely following the ongoing threats plaguing the Greenleaf empire. Series favorite Oprah Winfrey is rounding out the cast as Mavis McCready, the sister of Lady Mae Greenleaf and what we believe to be the long lost mother of Grace Greenleaf.
Also,
Netflix is getting into the Greenleaf business according to Variety and it's pretty impressive. The partnership between OWN and Netflix goes a little something like this: New episodes will be made available to Netflix customers a day after the season 2 premiere. Season 1 episodes will be ready to stream on March 3. The first eight episodes of the 16 episode series will air Wednesday's at 9pm/10pm and the remaining eight episodes of the series' second season will air in summer 2017.
