2017 Oscar Nominations Released - Octavia Spencer, Mahershala Ali, Ruth Negga and More Poised for Wins

The 2017 Oscar Nominations are in and the list is pretty impressive. Acting giants Denzel Washington, Viola Davis and Meryl are nominated - it's a given - but there are some surprises as well.  

Newcomer Ruth Negga (Loving) along with former Oscar winner Octavia Spencer (Hidden Figures) and we can't leave out rising star Mahershala Ali (Moonlight) are just a few names of those who are sure to walk away with the coveted gold statue. 

The event will be held live  via ABC Sunday, February 26th with hosting duties going to Jimmy Kimmel.
