Freedom Riders Documentary Excerpt Video
I can still hear my grandparents sharing nuggets of wisdom as I grew up in the South. This blogger was raised to know who I was, where I came from and most importantly what was expected of me from the jump.
Being from the south I have had my share of racial profiling in many different forms but this blogger was taught to rise above it and move on. Now please believe that if I was touched in any way it would have been lights out to whomever it was.
My heart is proud to know that those whose shoulders we are standing on now have an outlet to share their stories. The Freedom Riders are a courageous group of individuals who in 1961 sparked a movement that fought segregation in the south.
The group not only included African Americans but there were many who joined the fight for freedom. I am proud to know one Freedom Rider personally in the form of Rev. Harry Blake who is still standing today.
