One on One with Paul Carrick Brunson ~ Matchmaker Guru

Being a blogger of a certain age, I have experienced my fair share of memorable dating sequences. From the dreaded blind date set up by my best friend and his wife, to the most awkward goodbye handshake at the front door, I have seen it all in the area of finding love.

There are many that desire to connect with someone who understands them and gets what they have to offer. This blogger believes that there is someone for everyone and often all we need is a simple push from someone who understands the struggle.

Understanding the plight and sensing a need for singles to come together and make amazing connections, Paul Carrick Brunson has managed to make inroads in the area of matchmaking and does it with an effortless skill that not many possess.

LIRM had the amazing opportunity of speaking one on one with Paul on a range of subjects such as his background, relationships and much more. Check out this amazing interview that we are sure will encourage many to continue to believe in the art of connection.

Paul give our readers a little background information about yourself.
My background is amazing, my mother is Jamaican and I have such a strong Jamaican influence that I actually try and visit as often as I can. You often hear people throw jabs about Jamaicans having tons of jobs but I actually gleaned from them the purpose of hard work.

I have lived in multiple states such as New York, Virginia, Florida as well lived for a year in Istanbul, Turkey. The experience of living abroad taught me to appreciate people, helped my communication skills and helped shape/mold me into the person I am today. My educational background consists of attending Georgetown University in Washington, DC and working in the area of Investment Banking.

Fascinating, being a life/relationship coach, how did you find your niche in this field? Was it effortless?
Actually, I was checking in students at a local summer program and I notice that not one student had two parents in the household.  It was then and there that it all came into focus. I spoke with my wife regarding it and we began to think of ways to bring about change in that area.

We began to have mixers geared toward singles with various activities such as card games as well as fun activities. It was during these mixers that connections were made and during that time that we found out that a company was doing something similar.

I attended a conference in New York City and it was there that I found myself among 250 life/relationship coaches. Here I am the only African American under the age of forty in a room full of love experts. I realized the opportunity that had been placed in front of me and it went from there.

Being that you are a matchmaker, what should men/women do to make the first connection/date successful?
It is actually a scientific factor that plays a major roll regarding a successful connection. There is something called Dopamine that is a neurotransmitter that when released can be highly associate with arousal.  The question is, how do you raise the dopamine level?

For example, imagine surprising your date with two tickets to go skydiving. Jumping out of a plane is sure to raise the adrenaline level and take it thru the roof. Even if the relationship doesn’t survive, that person will never forget you that’s for sure.

Judging from you videos, your love for your wife is apparent. Share with our readers what the most important thing is in a successful marriage.
1.       Communication ~ So many couples talk at each other instead of talking to each other. Listening and receiving is also key.

2.       Conflict Resolution ~ Every couple is going to argue and fight. The challenge is to have the ability to resolve those issues and stand the test of time.

The L-10 Project seems to be of the utmost importance to you. Please share with our readers the significance of it and what it consists of.
This is something that is near and dear to my heart, we initiated it in 2003 and it consists of rebuilding schools in Jamaica. We will be rebuilding a school in January 2012 during MLK week and we are extremely excited and optimistic.  We are in the process of recruiting 200 – 250 volunteers to assist us with building a library, bathrooms, areas for special needs and much more.

Will there be any Paul Carrick Brunson publications coming down the road?
We have actually partnered with a distribution company and will be launching our new website in the next thirty days. It will consist of fresh daily content, weekly videos and much more. As far as book publication goes, I have five books that I plan on writing and releasing. One is already headed toward publication status and should be ready soon.

Paul Carrick Brunson has managed to create a brand that stands out and is synonymous with getting getting clear and precise results. Here at Legends Icons and Role Models, we believe his future is bright and the future is his for the taking.
