LIRM Artistic Spotlight ~ Debra Killings- Humbled n Talented

As I was perusing various television programs the other night, I turned to BET and viewed The Monique Show and was naturally entertained. As Monique bantered on with her in studio audience, she eventually gestured to her band and I recognized one of her band members.

The year was 2003 and I attended the Gospel Evolution Tour featuring Tonex, Virtue, Byron Cage and Debra Killings. The latter artist stood out strong to be for a number of reasons but one reason was that she was touchable. Earlier in the day, I bumped into her going into the building and this artist was pleasant, peaceful as well as witty.

Later on I learned that she was a Grammy Award Winner who had toured with the likes of Aretha Franklin, Madonna, Santana and many more.  As the show ended, I had the opportunity of speaking with her more and she was even more humbled about her career and where she was believing God to take her.

I do believe that a few of her desires have been met and I have to tell you this: Debra Killings is one talented Bassist, Song Writer and Role Model who's life is testament that if you work hard and remain humble, the world is yours for the asking.
