The Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) is ready for the fall season and the show listings seem like some good things are coming our way. Staple shows like Tyler Perry's For Better or Worse & Is Loving You Is Wrong, Sweetie Pies, Oprah's Master Class but there is more.
Check it out:
The network is set to produce a series that centers around a Memphis mega-church and it's family that looks super perfect on the outside but once behind the scenes things are made clearer. According to Deadline, veteran actress Lynn Whitfield has just been cast in the lead role as Lady Greenleaf, a materialistic pastor's wife who plays the game to remain in her coveted position. Also added to the cast are Merle Dandridge and Desiree Ross as the two daughters to the not yet cast role of pastor.
Check out the full description:
"Award-winning writer/producer Craig Wright (“Six Feet Under,” “Lost”) that takes viewers into the unscrupulous world of the Greenleaf family and their sprawling Memphis megachurch, where scandalous secrets and lies are as numerous as the faithful. The Lionsgate-owned series is set for production later this year.
Like so many megachurches in America, Greenleaf is more than just a house of worship. It’s a home. It’s the center of the community for the thousands of predominantly African-American members who attend services there. But beneath its steeple lies a den of iniquity — greed, adultery, sibling rivalry and conflicting values — a multigenerational matrix of deception that involves the church’s founding family, but also extends to the congregation and prominent members of the Memphis community and beyond. Yet, amidst all of the mayhem and deception, the power of something greater persists, calling everyone to conscience for their sins."
