Bravo Renews The Real Housewives of Atlanta For Season Eight + NeNe Leakes Departs



The massive brand known as The Real Housewives of Atlanta doesn't seem to be showing any signs of slowing down as Bravo officially renewed the series for an eight season.


Bravo is also celebrating the 100th episode of the series with a reflective special hosted by Andy Cohen.

"The Real Housewives of Atlanta: 100th Episode Watch What Happens Live Special" on Sunday, July 12 at 8pm ET/PT. The one-hour special will take a trip down memory lane and relive the series' most unforgettable and buzziest moments. Memorable clips from the past seven seasons will be featured alongside candid interviews with former and current Housewives such as original series regulars Nene Leakes, Kim Zolciak Biermann and Deswhan Snow along with Cynthia Bailey, Kandi Burruss, Claudia Jordan, Kenya Moore, Phaedra Parks and Porsha Williams."




Original cast member NeNe Leakes released a statement via People.com that she would not be returning for the new season.

"This was definitely a hard decision for me," Leakes tells PEOPLE. "Me and my husband [Gregg Leakes] have been going back and forth on it for weeks now. But my contract is up and I just think this is the right time. This is my opportunity to spread my wings and do different things."
