FX's Breakout Hit "ATLANTA" Officially Renewed for a Second Season

Donald Glover and company are bringing strong viewing numbers when it comes to the hit FX series Atlanta.

The series also starring Lakeith Stanfield, Brian Henry,  Zazie Beetz and more drew viewers in last week with a keen insight into the gritty side of the mega city. The premiere telecast was the most-watched scripted primetime comedy debut in Adults 18-49 (1.2 million) since the April 2013 series premiere of Inside Amy Schumer (Comedy Central). The premiere telecast was followed immediately by the second episode, which held 90% of Total Viewers (1.6 million) and 92% of Adults 18-49 (1.1 million).

That isn't the only good news and LIRM learned today that the network has officially renewed the series for a second season with a full 10 episodes optioned.

Nick Grad and Eric Schrier, Presidents of Original Programming, FX Networks and FX Productions
confirmed, "It's really gratifying to launch series that have received overwhelming critical acclaim right out of the gate and that are emblematic of FX's award-winning brand. It is clear to us that Atlanta has struck a nerve with viewers, which is a credit to Donald Glover's vision for Atlanta.  They, along with their spectacular casts, writers and directors, have created exceptional shows that we are incredibly proud to produce."
