Naomi Campbell Snags Juicy role in Lee Daniels "Empire" Series
Naomi Campbell is dusting off her acting skills and joining Lee Daniels new nighttime serial Empire.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the family drama is set in the world of a hip hop empire and stars Taraji P. Henson as Cookie Lyon, the ex-wife of Lucious Lyon (Terrance Howard), the head of a record label at the center of the show.
The originally was originally intended for singer Macy Grey but due to scheduling conflicts, Campbell will play Camilla, an alluring woman involved in a steamy affair with Hakeem played by Bryshere Gray, the much younger potential heir to his father's throne. The last time we saw the much hereld supermodel on our television screen was the now defunct New York Undercover and before that she had a memorable turn as the object of Theo Huxtable's affections on The Cosby Show.
Naomi also executive produced The Face which was a pretty good show. Unfortunately the series was not renewed but at least we will have our favorite runway vixen on our weekly television screens.
She joins musical legend Gladys Knight who is also poised to burn up the screen when Empire premieres in early 2015. Check out some vintage appearances from Naomi to get you prepped for her role.
