One on One with Tosi Ufodike ~ Owner, My Good Nanny
Having good quality care for your children is always important and is a must have for any parent who is on the move. Be it the corporate mother who is always in important meetings to the single dad who is pressed to prepare food for the kids, a nanny service can be a key component to get the job done.
Tosi Ufodike has created a service that brings relief, class and a special touch in the area of nanny services. LIRM recently connected with Tosi via the social networks and all we can say is that she has a clear goal and it is certainly working.
Check out this exclusive one on one with this spirited sister who is making inroads in special and unique ways.
Tosi, give our readers some background info of where you come hail from. What was your inspiration to become involved in the area of nanny services?
I was raised in Nigeria, West Africa and came from a pretty dynamic large family. Growing up we had house help all around us which consisted mostly of Nigerian families. Nigerians often have family members, nannies, and drivers, to help with raising their children.
The whole notion of it takes a village to raise a child is true and it definitely started in Africa. I moved to America around my teenager years and saw the whole change in culture and the lack of help for parents with children. The notion of having help for parents really stayed with me. It was a part of my foundation and still is to this day.
I really got inspired to start My Good Nanny after the birth of my first daughter, Zina. I had to go back to work and could not bear the thought of having her in a daycare and not in her environment at 3 months of age. I was breastfeeding and did not want Zina introduced to formula at all. I wanted someone I trusted, who knew my culture, and who would be with Zina in her environment. I knew there had to be other parents like me who wanted the same things for their children. In 2005, My Good Nanny was born!
That is fascinating! Tell our readers what inspires you to continue to maintain the integrity of My Good Nanny?
Integrity is something you do when no one is looking. You either have it or you don't. At My Good Nanny, integrity is at the fiber of everything we do. If you don't have integrity, you don't need to be in the childcare business. People are trusting you with their lives every day and we don't take that lightly.

Being in your field can be extremely stressful. Share with our readers how you handle stress?
Stress is a part of life. If you don't have stress, then you are not doing everything you should be doing. I handle stress by praying to God. God will always give you what you can handle. God is at the heart of My Good Nanny. We are a Christian Diverse Nanny Agency.
Your brand seems to exemplify quality and excellence. Tell us more about My Good Nanny and what services you offer.

We are unique in that we are an unapologetically Christian company. We do not take everyone and we do not care about having thousands of nanny profiles on our site. We cater to a niche market. We focus on diverse nannies. Our nannies are diverse in culture, language, and way of life. We place nannies for Europeans, Hispanics, Africans, Asians, Indians; the list goes on and on.
We live in critical times, how do you handle criticism? Good and Bad?
We know when you are doing something right, people will talk. Their curiosity on how you achieve success drives them to criticism. We tell all of our customers, followers, and sponsors, if we are doing something right, please tell others about it and if we are doing something that needs improvement, please tell us and we will definitely work on improving it. We love feedback and we love hearing from our customers. We are not a perfect company.

There are many up and coming entrepreneurs who are striving to creating a lasting brand. What would you say to that young person who has a dream but not alot of support?
Pray to God, Follow your dream, and never give up. One day the stars will align.

For that client who calls you up and request only the best nanny services, how do you select the proper individual?
We really focus on what that parent wants versus what they need. Every parent has a different want for their child. We are not in the business of telling parents what they should or should not do. We know they love their children and have trusted us to provide that "Good Nanny" so we really take that knowledge and pair that with the nannies that we feel will make our clients happiest. I wrote an article on "How to find a Good Nanny." It is a great resource on our home page. http://www.mygoodnanny.com/pressRelease.html

Where do you see My Good Nanny in the next 5 years?
Global!! We really are focusing on the London and Nigerian markets. We have a small presence in London, Abuja and we are working on expanding our marketing reach. We just don't want to rush into a market quickly. We are spending thousands of dollars on marketing research to understand the different dynamics and laws. Based on marketing feedback, we know we will capture a large percentage of market shares however, we also know timing is everything.
Are there any community activities that you and/or your service offer to those less fortunate. How do you give back to the community?
We support the March of Dimes and the American Red Cross. We also are working with an American based company to provide wheelchairs to children who need them in Nigeria. We are very excited about giving back. If the cause has a positive impact on a child's life - we want to know how My Good Nanny can help. Children are so beautiful and so priceless and My Good Nanny loves helping children.
Not many people realize that nanny services can be upscale and/or modern, what is your daily plan of action to share with those in your region that they can trust your brand?
