Alfre Woodard Joins Empire

The writers of Fox's top rated Empire are kicking things into high gear by adding royalty to the cast this upcoming season. That's right folks Emmy Winning actress Alfre Woodard is being added as a recurring character and we have the info.

Woodard, who is also killing it as calculating murderess Mariah Dillard on Netflix's Luke Cage, is headed to the series as the mother of Taraji P. Henson's Cookie. According the info released today, the actress will be playing Renee who is sure to butt heads with her headstrong daughter. The series is set to return Wednesday, March 28 at 8EST/7CST. 

Not trying to be a wanna be Empire writer BUT Lee Daniels and his team of writers must add the Cookie's sisters played by Carol (Tasha Smith) and Candace (Vivica A. Fox) into the mix to really take things up a notch.
