Could A The Parker's Reboot Starring Monique and Company Work???

It's the season of reboots, what with the likes of Will & Grace (NBC), Roseanne, Charmed (CW), Twin Peaks (Showtime), and we feel as if another classic should at least be included in the mix.

Ok, Ok, we can dream right??? So let's get with it.....

The Parker's, created by Sara P. Vinney, was a spinoff of the highly successful Moesha and chronicled the hilarious hijinks's of Nikki Parker (Monique) and her bubbly daughter Kim (Countess Vaughan) as they matriculated thru college. Viewers saw Kim and Nikki deal with issues that stem from a frustrated love life, Nikki's dreams of success with the ever popular Lady Egyptian products, Kim's desired to be independent and much more.

Let's not front, The Parker's weekly ratings were pretty impressive, it was huge for this show to have a pretty much all black cast and maintain weekly success. Cast members also included Jenna Von Oy, Ken Lawson, the late Yvette Wilson and Dorien Wilson who brought the laughs and aided in making the series a success.

Series lead Monique would go on to garner an academy award for her role in Lee Daniel's Precious along with hosting the first ever late night talk show for BET Networks along with battling Hollywood to showcase more African American actors in key roles. Lawson and Wilson are now staring in the Bounce TV top rated show In The Cut, Vaughan is a key figure in the TV One reality series Hollywood Divas and Von Oy is now married with two children.

Now for the plotlines:

In our minds, who wouldn't want to know what happened to Nikki Parker and Professor Ogilvie after they tied the knot in the series finale. Did they stay together? Did Ogilvie leave Nikki for Veronica? Maybe Nikki has taken the Professor's old job at Santa Monica College and it's caused problems in their lives.

It would be kind of hard to explain the absence of the late Yvette Wilson as Parker's sidekick Andell though. Maybe the writers can have the audience learn that Andell is traveling the world with her husband?

Oh and maybe Kim and Freestyle Unity, T played by Ken Lawson and Stevie played by Jenna Von Oy, have reunited after years of being away and are trying to garner a platinum deal??  We can see T and Stevie maybe having gotten married and divorced but raising a couple of kids would desire to be singers/performers as well. It would be a prime time for a network such as TV One, BET or perhaps Hulu or Amazon to revive this cult classic. The series ranks as one that still holds its own today with reruns airing across the country and beyond.

Soooooo we know our plot lines might be a bit far fetched but, somebody get Netflix - ok- well - maybe no Netlix - but somebody on the line......... We can hear it now..... Heyyyyyyyyyyy Professor Ogilvie....!!!!
