Spike Lee's She's Gotta Have It Premiere Date Set via Netflix
The promiscuous Nola Darling is headed to a television screen near you thanks to Spike Lee and we couldn't be more excited.
30 years after the breakout movie She's Gotta Have It surprisingly shot to the top of the movie charts, Lee, along with his talented wife Tonya, has given the icon movie She's Gotta Have It a fresh start via streaming giant Netflix.
Described as a contemporary update of the original film, Netflix has ordered 10 episodes for viewing. No word on if we will see a cameo from the original Nola Darling aka Tracy Camilla Johns or Mars Blackmon played by Lee himself, but we sure hope so.
Check out the breakdown:
DeWanda Wise stars in the central role of Brooklyn based Nola Darling who is struggling to define herself and divide her time amongst her Friends, her Job and her Three Lovers: Greer Childs played by Cleo Anthony (Divergent), Jamie Overstreet played by Lyriq Bent (The Book of Negroes), and Mars Blackmon played by Hamilton alum Anthony Ramos.
Chyna Layne (Precious) and Ilfenesh Hadeara (Baywatch), Margot Bingham (Barbershop: The Next Cut), Sydney Morton (Love, New York), and Joie Lee (Do The Right Thing) round out the cast. Lee directs all 10 episodes of the series, he created and produced the show. Tonya Lewis Lee serves as executive producer along with Barry Michael Cooper and Lynn Nottage.
