The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks Trailer Starring Oprah Winfrey Drops

Excellent news dropped today concerning the amazing story of the late Henrietta Lacks and her contributions to the medical fields albeit due to her death as word hit that Oprah Winfrey is set to bring the Mrs. Lacks story to the screen. 

Winfrey will hit our screens as Deborah Lacks, the daughter of Henrietta Lacks, as the film brings insight into her desire for more information concerning her fallen mother who was the victim of unauthorized harvesting of Lacks’ cancerous cells in 1951. The trailer for the upcoming event, set for premiere Saturday, April 22 via HBO, is here and showcases Winfrey's acting chops.

Also joining the cast is soap vet/Broadway actress Renee Goldsberry in the title role of Ms. Lacks but that's not all. Stellar actors Leslie Uggams (ROOTS), Courtney B. Vance (The People VS O.J. Simpson) and Ruben Santiago- Hudson (CASTLE) . 

Production is set to begin later this year with Mrs. Lacks sons and granddaughter consulting as well. We also have heartwarming video of the Lacks family discussing their quest for justice.


As you watch the video, you find her young children, now adults, looking at their mothers living cells. It's an amazing video and one that will most certainly cause you to think about how far science has come and where it may be headed.
